Crooked Crow Songwriter Retreat, 2011
Hosted by Johann Wagner and Bryan Hembree, this nascent songwriter retreat looked intriguing and promising to me as I signed on. I went through the experience inspired and educated. Thanx to Johann, Bryan, and the entire crew of songsters who participated and gave selflessly of their time and energy in this first run; I believe many more Crooked Crow retreats are to come in the future.
The event occurred in the first weekend of December, 2011 at the Chinati Hot Springs. Songwriters of all ilks came with positive attitudes, artistic work ethics, and pen and paper. Songs were shared and made in differing environments, yet surrounded with all the beauty the desert had to offer. I even spotted a great horned owl on a walk with Cheri Gillham, Sunny Sneckner, and Courtney McWilliams.
